Last night I attempted to paint my nails in the semblance of a monarch butterfly…it went dreadfully. (I’m the world’s laziest perfectionist, just let me say it looks awful, alright?)

I got the idea off of Cutepolish, a videoblogger who does some awesome stuff with nail polish. I would insert a link, but it’s been years since I’ve done any html…and I’d really just like to get a post up for once. So go to youtube and look her up, her tutorials are simple and concise! (I totally want to do the pikachu one she has next! I’m going to use it to torment my boyfriend *maniacal laugh*)

This was actually a lot simpler than I expected it to be, the real time consumer and what made it so crooked and blobby was the lack of proper tools and a little practice. There was also some bleeding of the black when I applied the top coat.

I like the strong colours, but honestly, it’s a bit much for my every day look of bare bitten-back nails. I think I’ll try pick up some better supplies and retry this in a softer look another time. Hopefully I’ll remember to post pictures!

Also, I shall leave ye with a picture of a real butterfly, taken by me at the Montreal Botanical Gardens!
